Family and Parent Ministry at FBC

At First Baptist Gainesville our greatest desire is to partner with our families to give them the support, encouragement and sometimes new ideas for creating or reigniting family warmth. We want to help free families to focus on those things that matter most: their relationships with each other and with Jesus Christ. No one has the secret for perfect parenting. But, the good news is, that families still wield the most incredible influence over young people from birth all through adolescence and even college. Families can provide a relationship through which all of us are changed. This is a mystery, so let’s cheer each other on.

Young Families

This ministry is for families with children under 12 and helps to encourage, equip and walk beside parents as they guide their children’s spiritual development. We strive to connect families to develop meaningful and supportive community together at First Baptist. Some ways we provide support are through special parenting seminars, family-fun events such as game night, kickball, or special holiday celebrations.

Parents Night Out: We regularly provide a Parents Night Out event for children birth-5th grades. This is a time you can have a great date night and connect to your significant other or have some much needed down time.

Family Serve

Each quarter we have an opportunity to serve alongside our kids and teens with other families. Serving together can build lasting family ties, memories and teach our kids and students what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. There are a variety of ways to serve so the specific task each month will depend on numbers and ages of those who sign up. Additionally, families can sign up to help serve at one of our ongoing local missions such as Family Promise, Jubilee Gardens or Promising Futures.

Please Note: The Family Serve date on March 23rd did not garner enough response so it will be rescheduled. We have heard from many families that they would love opportunities to serve together. At FBC we believe that families will be helped to thrive spiritually the more that we’re focused on others and the less that we’re focused on ourselves. So we are committed to finding ways to come alongside families to help them develop a taste for serving! What are good days and times for your families to serve together? We want to know! And if you are interested in future opportunities please let us know. Contact Kellie Denton at
