Welcome to the Children's Ministry at First Baptist Church! Our two main meeting times occur on Sunday mornings for Bible Study and on Wednesday evenings for children’s choir and missions. Other special events and studies happen throughout the year.
On Sunday mornings we meet at 9:45am in the Great Room (room 108) for an Opening Activity and at 10:00am dismiss to graded classrooms for small group time. Our Bible study time is a chance for children to dive deeper into the Bible and explore their faith in fun and age-appropriate ways. We use Cokesbury’s Deep Blue curriculum which encourages children to make Bible stories, Bible people, and Bible passages a part of their lives. Our hope is that they come to know the Bible as THEIR book and find ways to let the Bible speak to them today.
On Sunday mornings, we also have Children's Worship Workshop during the 10:50am worship service for children in Kindergarten-2nd grades. The Worship Guide indicates when children are dismissed out the doors by the organ in the service. Children are picked-up in room 108.
Wednesday Nights following children’s choirs, we meet from 6:30pm-7:00pm in the Children's Wing for fun Mission activities. This spring, we will begin the year with a study of the Bible for 2nd-5th grades and a study of prayer for Kindergarten and 1st grades. In February, we will look at the issue of hunger and how as Christians we are called to respond in conjunction with a Souperbowl of caring canned food collection for our community pantry. In March and April, our Kindergarten and 1st graders will learn from Jesus’ life while our 2nd-5th graders will study missionaries in Japan and end our year with two hands on mission nights.
