Sunday Mornings for Kids
9:45 - 10:45AM
It is a joy and a privilege to share the love of Christ with a child. We believe that there is no better way to accomplish the goals of the church than to join with families in the all-important task of leading the next generation into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
For our littlest ones, we offer care in a happy, healthy, secure environment. We understand the importance of a child's early years, and we support parents by planning learning and growing experiences for your children each time they are at our church.
Sunday School is our traditional approach to Bible Study. Children 3 years old - 5th grade study the Bible with children their own age. We use large group and small group approach utilizing Bible story-related activities; drama, games and music to teach the meaning and application of our lessons. This gives children an opportunity to learn biblical material in a variety of settings that engage both their minds and their senses and allows them to discover the ways in which they can live out their understanding of God and the world around them.
Does First Baptist offer a time for children's only Worship? Yes, Children's Worship is offered during the school year at our 10:50 a.m. Morning Worship Service. You and your child sit as a family during the praise and singing portion of the service in order to experience corporate worship. At the designated time, (noted in our bulletin) children leave with their leader for an age appropriate lesson time in Room 108 of the Children's Hallway.*
Who may attend Children's Worship?
Children Kindergarten thru 2nd grade.
What does worship time for children consist of?
Age-appropriate activities help the children hear the morning's Sermon Scripture text in a way they can understand so that parents can engage their children in conversation as a family about what they learned at church. This time is also a good opportunity for children to learn about elements of a worship service to help them understand why we sing, pray, give an offering, read from the Bible. As they learn, they will prepare for their own participation in worship as members of the family of God.
Children's Worship helps children know that they are special and unique, and that God has a plan for each of them. We are delighted to have children in our worship services. We believe that children are important to our church family. We find that they contribute their unique perspective while they are learning from the worshipping community. A child of any age may attend the worship service. However, childcare is provided for preschoolers (ages birth-Pre-K) throughout the service.
To aid in the worship experience of children in the worship service, worship bags are available in the Narthex. These bags contain colored pencils, crayons, a drawing pad, children's bulletins, and a weekly quiz, Please return the worship bag to the basket at the conclusion of the service.
*Please make sure to check the bulletin, as there are some special Sundays during Advent and Lent and summer where Children's Worship does not meet.
